RESOLUTION NO. 95-67
EXPRESSING CONGRATULATIONS TO PAUL STRAUMANN FOR ATTAINING
THE RANK OF EAGLE SCOUT
WHEREAS, the Arden Hills City Council recognizes that the highest rank awarded by the Boy
Scouts of America is the rank of Eagle Scout and;
WHEREAS, Paul Straumann of Arden Hills has completed the requirements for the rank of
Eagle Scout by earning 21 merit badges, planning and directing a major
community project and serving in a troop leadership position and;
WHEREAS, Paul Straumann distinguished himselfhy participating in a landscaping and
improvement project at Cununings Park whereby they planted Colorado Blue
Spruce, painted hockey boards, stained the warming house, and
WHEREAS, Paul Straumann earned not only the traditional merit badges, of the Boy Scouts
but chose such badges as Citizenship, Swimming and Family Life;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Arden Hills City Council, on behalf of
Council, Staff and the citizens of Arden Hills, express their sincere gratitude and congratulations
to Paul Straumann for attaining the rank of Eagle Scout and for his dedicated service to the
Community.

WHEREAS, The daily accomplishments of cities, their officials and volunteers
provide the cornerstone for creating, supporting and building the well
being of our communities;
WHEREAS, Cities build community through citizen participation, ethical
responsibility and the close relationship between elected officials and
the citizens they serve;
WHEREAS, Cities build community and drive the economic engine ofthe state by
supporting business and industry, sustaining efficient transportation and
providing necessary utilities;
WHEREAS, Cities build community and enhance Minnesota's high quality oflife
through vigilant police and fire protecton, inviting parks, clean water
and safe streets;
WHEREAS, Cities build community by encouraging individuality and promoting
cultural diversity while at the same time celebrating the community that
brings people together;
WHEREAS, Cities build community by providing leadership on difficult issues
block-by-block, neighborhood-by-neighborhood and throughout the
city;
WHEREAS, Cities build conununity through the often-unrecognized hard work and
tireless dedication of elected and appointed officials and volunteers;
WHEREAS, Cities Week 1995--Cities Building Comunity--offers an important
opportunity to acknowledge public support and involvement in local government,
inform citizens about the wide range of services provided by cities, and celebrate
the importance of hometown democracy;

Now, therefore, the Mayor, Councilmembers, and the City of Arden Hills, Minnesota, do hereby
proclaim October 1-7, 1995, to be Cities Week in Minnesota and urge citizens to learn more
about their city government, to become involved in their community, and to recognize the work
done by city officials and volunteers across the state.
