RESOLUTION NO. 98-30
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING CHANGES
TO THE EMPLOYEE BENEFIT PROGRAM
WHEREAS, Chapter 19 of the Arden Hills Municipal Code identified those benefits provided to
the employees of the City of Arden Hills; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has discussed tllose benefits and found that the short-term
disability and life insurance benefits as currently provided are not competitive within the market;
and
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to provide the addition of long-term disability insurance to
its employees; and
WHEREAS, the City solicited quotes from various carriers to provide these benefits; and
WHEREAS, the City has evaluated these quotes and determined that changes to the benefit
program are appropriate.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Arden Hills,
Minnesota:
The City of Arden Hills will, at its cost, provide each non-union employee the following
benefits:
1. A Life Insurance benefit in the amount of one (1) x salary;
2. A Long-Term Disability Insurance benefit;
3. A Short-Term Disability Insurance benefit.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Administrator is hereby directed to provide notice
to the Local 49 for the purpose of re-opening the current labor agreement in order to discuss
these items.
