Johnson, Assistant to the City AdministratorSlt-> Murtuza Siddiqui, Finance Director SUBJECT: Appointmcnt of Michelle Bruley as the City's AccOlUlting Analyst BACKGROUND In September, City staff began recruitment efforts for hiring an Accounting Analyst. The City received nine applications for the open Accounting Analyst position in September. Five candidates were asked to participate in the first round interviews, The first round of interviews was conducted by Murtuza Siddiqui and Schawn Johnson on October 14th. Based upon the first round of interviews, the top two candidates were invited back to participate in the second round of interviews, Those intervicws were condllctcd on October 19th. Michellc Wolfe, Murtuza Siddiqui, and Schawn Johnson were part of the interview panel for thc second round of interviews. DISCUSSION Based upon the interview process and work related experiencc, the recommended candidate is Ms, Michelle Bruley, In 2004, Ms, Bruley received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Metropolitan State University, In March 2005, Ms. Bruley was hired by Comtal Machine and Engineering as a staff accountant In September, her job as a Staff Accountant was eliminated when Com tal Machine and Engineering of White Bear Lakc announced that the company was going out of business. In her role as Staff Accountant for Comtal Machine and Engineering, she was responsible for accounts receivables, accounts payable, customer invoices, general ledgers, and producing end-of,the-month financial reports, Ms, Bruley was also employed by Metro One Telecommunication Company of Roseville for four years as a floor supervisor. She was responsible for supervising twenty-five employees that handled customer service related phone calls, She was also responsible for monitoring staffing levels and employee performances. She has also workcd as a bank teller for Heartland Credit Union in Arden Hills. f , . . Page 2 of2 Ms, Michelle Bruley has a solid background in general accounting and has indicated a strong interest in this position with the City of Arden Hills.
