COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF ARDEN HILIS

The meeting was called to order at 8:00 p.m. by Nayor Ashbach.
Roll Call: Present; Ashbach, Crepeau, Kennedq, Stromquist
�Absent; DeLange
The minutes of the October 26 meeting were read and approved.

The minutes of the November 3, 1959 Speciel meeting were approved as
submitted.
�fir. Gaughan, owner, requested permission to allow a Texaco station at
the NE intersection of County Road D and Cleveland Avettue to be built.
Mrs. n:osher and Mrs. Pratt, owners of residenti�l property adjaeent
to location objected to a filling station.
n?r. Kennedy reported that the Public Welfare had given considerable
atudy to the request for station. The committee felt that an office
building or similar use instead o? a filling station would be more
desirable for this particular iocation. The committee recommended
Councii denq request fo2� filling station.. A£ter Council discussion,
motion made by Crepeau, eeconded by Stromquist, that Cossncil accept
report of Public Vv'elfare Committee apd deny request for building
permit to erect Texaco station at NE intersection of County Road D
e.nd Claveland Avenue. Notion paesed.
ih'illiam Zilliox reported a drainage problem on his property at Countg
Road E�ue to plat developsaent in areas near him. The matter was re-
ferred to Engineer Carley for recommendation by next Council meeting.
PUBLIC SA�ETY COIt�ll1iITTEE: Crepeau reported that another sign census
will be taken in Village and Public Safety Committee will worY. with
Council and attorney to determine i�hat ehould be done about ordinance
regulatiflg signs and blllboards.
PUBLIC WORKS COMRiITTEE: Council gave I�ayor Ashbach authority to order
work done on roads in Arden Hills 3 area after sewer installatioq to
make them passable for vrinter montns.
�Niayor�u Reports Ashbach reported a meeting held with YIinneapolis City
Engineer re: lease of 'Pwin Cities Arsenal sec+er.
Clerk was requested to call Northern States Power Com� ny to see if
arc light nas been ordered for Sesllin� and Cummings Lane.
• N,ayor Ashbach announcad a joint meeting of Roseville and Arden Hi11s
officials re: sewer to be held ivovember 11.
PUBLIC WELFARE COivliti7ITTEk:: Kennedy reported a meeting of Committee
held. Tne Board of Appeals_attepded to request increased lot widths
for future platting. N.r. Kennedy reported that a committee report
on recommendations wi11 be.given at November 30 megular Council meeting

Ms. �ennedy raported recommendation by Sewer Committee and 3ntroduced
by title an ordinance regulating operation by munici�al sewer systerr�,
Clerk was authorized to issue permits to residents wanting iuunediate
connections following proviaions of proposed ordinances. This will
require a permit only if reaident is to do his own work, and a license,
insurance and permit for cohtractors doing work for hire.
Clerk�s Report; p letter from Land Commission re: tax f'or£eited land
in village was refarred to attorney Courtney.
Clerk informed Council Village is furnishin� Highway Department with
a�2,000.00 bond to obtain permit to cross highway for sewer connection
at south limits of Arden Hills.
The Ninutes of' tne Board of Appeals of Oct�ber 26, 1959 were submitted
to Council.
