MINUTES OF REGULAR t+fEETING
Council of the Village of Arden Hills
• Monday, Januarg 9, 1961
The meeting was called to order at 8;10 p.m. by Mayor Ashbach.
RO�,I, CALL: Present - Ashbach, Kennedy, Stromquist
Absent - Crepeau
Also Attending - blr. Peterson, Mr. Lund from Eannister
�ngineering and Donald Carley, Village Engineer
�NNISTER ENGIN�ERING CO - Mr, Peterson reported on the problem the
swamp east o the ift station on the north side of the R.R. tracks
serving Valentine Hills, etc. is presenting. It has no bottom,
necessitating the use of p31in and pipe of extra strength. Cost for
the additional piling wi11 be �4,000.00 extra and estimated cost of
stronger pipe will be �7.70 per foo.t for approximately the 165� neceasary
to use.
?�e also gave progress report on other sections of the sewer project.
VILLAGE ENGINEER'S REPORT -?vIr. Don Carley reported on the Jurgenson
matter. h4r. Jurgenson, eveloper of Josephine Hills #3 has a bond in
with the Village assuring completion of roads when the serrers are in.
A sum of �1,498.00 for surfacing and a sum of �182.00 for grading and
cleanup work has been paid to the village by Mr. Jurgepson.
• P�4r. Carley recommended that these sums be accepted by the Village as
final settlement for the street.
Kennedy moved and Ashbach seconded acceptance of Village �p�ineer's
recommendation to accept checks of i�2r. Jurgenson as final settlement and
Clerk is to release his bond. Carried. The Village Clerk is to deposit
these checks in a specisl fund.
Mayor Ashbach reported that Mr. Stan Olmen has accepted council appoint-
ment to fill Mr. Dick Jones unexpired term on the Villa�e Council. His
resignation as a member of the School Board of District 621 has been
tendered. He will be installed at the next regular council meeting of
the Village of Arden Hil].s.
�r. Kennedy moved,Nlre. Stromquist seconded a motion that Bannister
Engineeriqg �o, proeure property listings and proceed with Assessment
role on Improyements #2, 3, and 4 in time to hold assessment hearings
early in the summer. Carried.
CLERK'S REPORT - The Roseville Engineer called last Friday to report
ha e ine from Ftoseville is all set for operation. Mrs. Stromquist
moved, Kennedy seconded approval of payment of check for �115,000.00 to
Roseville. Carried.

Nre. Stromquist moved, Kennedy seconded approval of payment of c].aim
• �2645 for a sum of �1Fi4.00 out of the 1960 budget as this sum represents
deductions made for last three �onths of year. Carried.

Kenne y move , Mrs. Stromquist seconded approval of payment of claims
1001 through 1021. Carried.
Mrs. Stromquist read a letter attached to a petition from �Sr. Fred
Kosslak reQuestipg the approval of the Mayor and the Village Counci7i
for re-zoning of property listed Yrom residential to commercial.
Kennedy moved, �1rs. Stromquist seconded this matter be referred to
Village attorney. Carried.
1VLr. Donald Lund of E?annister Enginearing presented plans showing
proposed sewer line across PFs.Bill Bachman�s property with alternate
proposal which could be uaed if Mr. Bachman would consent. The original
plan would destroy the saleability of this lot as the sewer line cuts
ahnost in the center of it and it could not be used to build on. Since
Mr. Bachmaq was not at the meeting it was agreed Mayor Ashbach, Mr.Lund
and �dr. Peterson would meet with Mr. Bachman op Tuesday morning to
resolve this problem.
