Absent: idone. ^1he rninutes of the JanuaT�y 11, 1960 meeting were reed and approved. Public Hearing: a hearin� was neld on the request of John Nesky to rezone from Res3dential to Commercial, his propertg at Highway 96 near Snelling as listed per notice of public hearing. Mrs. C. r. Steinkraus, 4535 Lakeshore Place, asked that Council consider carefully what is to be built on property before any rezoning is done. Mr. Jim fl4iller, 4482 Snelling Avenue questioned whether it was poten- tiallg a good corr,mercial area because of 1ar�e area covered b�r Arms Plant to north and the several homes already built on the strip aloqg Highway #96. •�Ir. Harold Thornes, 4519 Lakeshore Place, and T�4rs. Ii. R. NcClung, Snelling Avenue, also oYijected to the proposed rezoning. NIr. Kennedy, Chairman of Public V4elfare, stated that his committee felt that this land is desirable as comrnercial propert5 and recommendad the rezoning. After Council discussion motion made by Sones, seconded by Crepeau that matter be tabled until February 29 meeting. Motion passed. Carl Christianson, requested tnat Council explore possibility oF obtaining vrater from Twin Cities Arsenal wells. �4Ta}*or Asnbach requested TJ�s. Christianson to cneck into �atter and report back to Council. County Coaunissioner, Ed Salverda, appeared before Council to see how our council felt aoout the possibility of ftamsey County obtaining the puPont property on East side of Valentine Lake for a County park and �olf course. The matter was ref'erred to tr�e Public Welfare Committee. Public 'J`lorks Committee; P�otion by Jones seconded by kennedy that P�Zilner •W. Car ey and Associates be appointed as V"illage eqgineers £or year 1960. Carried. Jopes reported on drainage and road problems in village. Jones repos�ted that a member of Civil Defense unit would be on duty at ice rink at Lske Johanna from 6PD4 to 9PM s�arting January 27th. • Jones suggested a survey and study with a public hearing to be held for road improvement in Arden FIille 3 after sewer installation. Preliminary road improvement plans were submitted by Ent;ineer Carley. Upon motion by Jones, seconded by Kennedy, Council set opening of bids for proposed. and.alternate plans fox February 29, 1960 at 8;00 P.P.4. Crepeau expressed public thanks for the help given at the ice fisning contest of January 24, to the Arden Hills Police Department, Arden Hills Civil Defense unit and tne Mounds View Civil Defense Unit.
