P1INUTES OF REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING
Uillage of Arden Hills
Thursday, January 2, 1969
The meeting was called to order at 8:00 p.m. by Mayor F3jorndahi.
Village Attorney Vincent P. Courtney administered offiicial oathes
to the following newiy elected Viilage offtcials:

Victar 0. Pomerenke, Jushice ot the Peace

F� A list ot Viliage standing appointments was read by Mayor Bjorndahl.
lnformai bids from the New f3righton Bulletin and the Suburban Sun
for designation of official Viiiage newspaper were read by the Mayor.
Following CounciU discussion of the bids motion was made by Crepeau
that the New orighton Builetin be appointed as legal newspaper for
the calendar year 1969. The matter was further discussed Dy the
Council, pissatisfaction concerning news coverago by the Eiulletin
of Village Counci! meetings and municipal activities was expressed,
an amended resolution to appointthe E3ulletin for a six month period
with the matter to be reconsidered at tfiat time was suggested.
Foltowing further discussion, motion was made 6y Crepeau, seconded
by Hollenhorst that motfon be amended to appoint the P:ew Brighton
Bulletin as IQgal newspaper for a six month period with the matter
to be reconsidered at that'time. Motion carried.
Motion was made by Crepeau seconded by Olmen that the standing appoint-
ment, as per attached list be approved for the calendar year 1969
aith the legat newspaper appointed as per above amended resolutton.
A iist of Village Standfng Committees was read by Mayor E3jorndahl.
Certain vacancies still exist on some committees. Motion was made
by Crepeau seconded by }lenderson that Village Committees for the
calendar year 1969 be approved, as per attached ifst, with the
vacancies to be filled af a later date. Carried.
Councilman Crepeau, acting as Commissioner of Public Safety presented
VI!lage Police officers to the Village Council stating that he wanted
the Councii to know the entire torce working for the Village. Chief
of Police Victor Weber, Lt. Pat Sexton, and officers Mel Fish, Jim
Schmaedeke, Gordon fi. Fickett, Jr. and Jerome F. Stradinger were
introduced. The Council expressed thanks to the officers for the
good job they are dofng for the Viitage.

Copies of a{etter dated �ecember 30, 196E3 from Mr. Bruder of HUD
was distributad to the Council and Attorney. The formai app9ication
for a federal grant to help flnance Water Improvement Nos. 68-2 8 68-3
was inctuded with Mr. Rruder's Letter. Various sections of the appti-
cation were referred to Attorney Caurtney, Banister Enqineering and
Peter Popovich. it was requested that the forms be compfeted by the
above consuitants and that all be given to Mr. Courtney on or before
Thursday, January 9. The Councii further requested that Mr. Courtney
then review the entire application and report on the matter at the
Council meeting of January 13, 1969.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:00 p.m.
