Reminder: Michelle Wolfe will be out ofthc office December 13-18. All department heads are
scheduled to be working during that time period. Schawn \vill be Acting City Administrator
during the City ^dministrator's absence.
For your review, City staff has attached training infolllwtion for newly elected and experienced
elected officials through the League of Minnesota Cities. If you arc interested in attending this
training, please contact Assistant City Administrator Schawn Johnson and he will be glad to
assist you with the registration process.
Accounting Analyst Michelle Bruley submitted her resignation to the ^ssistant City
. Administrator on December 14th. Michelle has accepted a position with a private accounting
timl. Her last day with the City is officially January 1 st.
Work is proceeding toward the implementation of a new phone system. Unfortunately, City staff
was infonlled by the Roseville IT Department this week that we will not be able to keep our
existing phone numbers. The existing phone numbers at City Hall will be translated to the new
(651) 792-XXXX numbers for staff.
In the future, our new and old phone numbers will continue to ring to the same telephone.
Eventually the City will need to release the old phone numbers to Qwest. The City of Roseville
has been able to retain its old phone numbers for about three years. This spring the City of
Roseville will be releasing its old staff phone numbers to Qwest, but keeping its old main
numbers to City Hall for public use.
City stafTwill be working with the Roseville IT Department on informing the residents about the
new phone numbers through the local newspapers, City web site, newsletter. etc... The new IP
phone equipment has been ordered and is expected to be delivered and installed shortly aner the
first 0 f the year.
City staff has nan-owed the candidate field lor the Finance Director position to two candidates.
Schawn completed background checks and they were very good. The finalists arc scheduled to
have managemcnt assessments completed on December 7th and 12th. City stafr is attempting to
schedule the second round of interviews for the t\'/o finance director candidates for sometime in
. mid- December.

City of Arden Hills is seeking volunteers for the City's various committees and commissions. If
you know of someone that may be interested in serving on a committee or commission, please
have them contact Schawn (651-634-5125) or visit the City's web site for application materials.
The deadline for submitting application materials is Decembcr 22nd, but the City will accept
applications until all open positions are filled.
On December 12th, Greg Hoag, Deb Bloom and Klis Giga hosted a neighborhood meeting for
the 2007 PMP project. Twelve residents signed in, but about 15-18 residents attended. City staff
revicwed the City's Pavement Managemcnt Program as a whole, and then more specifically
discussed the proposed street improvcments. Questions generally revolved around how the
costs/assessmcnts were divided, whcther work was warranted on some of the streets, and the
duration of constmction or disruption in the neighborhoods. We emphasized the fact that no
decision has been madc for improvcments to these streets; these streets arc currently only under.
consideration in the feasibility report. City staff informed thc residents that Counci I will act on
this project at the time of the public hearing. The CUITent schedule is to present the feasibility
report at thc January 8 council meeting, and sct the publ ic hearing for the January 29 council
meeting.
On Dccember I i'\ City staff met with MnDOT representativcs to discuss the 1-694 project in
preparation for Monday night's work session. City staff also discussed access to the interstate
system with the potential development ofTCAAP. .
Public Works crews arc investigating two possible \vater main breaks. At this time, both of the
breaks appear to be small leaks. The first leak is located on County Road E near the east
intersection ofConncly Ave. The second break is near 3750 Dunlap St. As of Thursday moming,
Public Works crcws are accessing both of these issues and are working on a repair plan. The
tentative repair plan is for City statIto repair the water main leak on Dunlap Street this Friday
aHemoon, amI to complete repairs on County Road E over the weekend. The repair on County
Road E is tentatively scheduled to take plan on Saturday.
