Mayor Stan Harpstead, Councilmember Brenda Holden, Planning Commission Chair David Sand, and City Planner James Lehnhoffinterviewed Ms. Stodola on January 19th Based upon the results of the interview, the panel is recommending the appointment of Janet Stodola to the City's Planning Corrnnission. The first is that my long term neighbor has recently been elected Mayor. In the twenty plus years our back yards have adjoined, Stan Harpstead has been a good neighbor in all respects. I am confident and encouraged that under his competent, ethical leadership Arden Hills will flourish. I look to a position on the Planning Committee as a way of assisting Stan as he faces the challenges in his newly elected position. The second reason is that as a "semi-retired" professional I now have more time to devote to volunteer positions which interest me. My attendance at both Planning Committee and City Council meetings in the past few years has enlightened me to the importance these positions have in our community. The expertise I acquired as a commercial lender for Wells Fargo Banks for over ten years can be drawn on to ensure proposed developments are thoughtfully analyzed. For two years I was the Wells Fargo representative on the MCDA (Minneapolis Community Development Association) Zoning Committee. While on that committee I gained first hand knowledge of the complexity zoning and development issues have on a community. I welcome an opportunity to draw upon this background to assist Arden Hills in the upcoming year. The three references provided were carefully selected to demonstrate the diversity of my support. Linda Hansohn is the current president of the Karth Lake Improvement Board. I was the secretary of this group since its inception, and only recently did the tenure of my position expire. Linda can speak to my abilities in supporting the works of that committee. Maureen Melander is a long term business colleague who has worked with me in numerous capacities at Wells Fargo. She can speak to my project management skills. The third and final reference is Kathy Sukke, a neighbor, with whom I share a variety of personal experiences I look forward to proceeding with this application.
