Siems Court/Lake Johanua Boulevard Intersection
BACKGROUND
At the June I I, 2007 City Council meeting, the City Council directed staff to proceed with making
modifications to the intersection of Siems Court and Lake Johanna Boulevard, using Alternative A.
Alternative A involved removing and replaceing the curb and gutter north of catch basins in order to
increase the pavement width from 65' to 78' at the entrance.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS
The contractor for the 2006 PMP, Amt Construction Company, Inc., gave the City a quote for this work
in the amount of $12,696.88. This was over twice the amount staff had estimated at $5,755; therefore,
staff sought additional quotes from two other contractors. The table below shows a summary of the
results.

Forest Lake Contracting, Inc. $13,411.00
The lowest quote received was from T. A. Schifsky and Sons, Inc. in the amount of$5,723. This cost
would be charged to the Permanent Improvement Revolving Fund (PIR).
RECOMMENDED COUNCIL ACTION
Authorize staff to retain the services ofT.A. Schifsky and Sons, Inc. to complete modifications to the
Siems Court/Lake Johanna Boulevard intersection in the amount of $5,723.
