Backl!round The RFP for the B-2 Small Area Plan included provisions for creating a steering commiltee to help guide the planning process. The sleering committee would review drafts of the plan, altend public meetings, reach out to slakeholders, and provide feedback throughout the planning process, Allhe January 22, 2008, City Council work session, the Council came to a consensus that the commiltee should be created and suggested that it include two property owners from the B-2 distriCl, one nearby resident, another residenl from elsewhere in lhe City, and one councilmember. Upon consultation with the City's planning consultanl, Bill Weber ofMFRA recommended increasing the size of the commiltee to ten 10 fifteen people. Having a larger commiltee will help compensate for when some members may not be able to altend. Having enough people at each meeting is imperalive because the schedule is very light. Section 220 Subd. 4 of the City Code includes provisions for the creation of temporary advisory committees. The members of the commiltee are nominated by the Mayor and voted on by lhe full Council.
