STATE OF MINNESOTA
RESOLUTION NO. 2008-034:
RESOLUTION ACCEPTING A LOCAL TRAIL CONNECTION GRANT AWARD
THROUGH THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES FOR
THE PERRY PARK REGIONAL TRAIL CONNECTION.
WHEREAS, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources administers the Local
Trail Connection Grant Program and has approved a $24,000 grant to the City of Arden Hills
for construction of a .27 mile paved pathway from Perry Park connecting to an existing Tony
Schmidt Regional trail; and
WHEREAS, the City of Arden Hills recognizes the fifty (50) percent local match
requirement for the Local Trail Connection Grant Program, and has secured matching funds;
and
WHEREAS, conditions of the grant require the City Council pass a resolution
accepting the grant and designating a fiscal agent for the City of Arden Hills for this project;
and
WHEREAS, a segment of the proposed Perry Park Regional trail connection
alignment will be constructed on property owned by Ramsey County, specifically within
Tony Schmidt Regional Park; and
WHEREAS, Ramsey County has received a Department of Natural Resources grant
for further development of the Elmer L. Andersen Memorial Trail and a short segment of this
trail will be constructed on property owned by the City, specifically within Perry Park.
WHEREAS, the City of Arden Hills and Ramsey County will be responsible for all
costs of construction and maintenance of their respective trails; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Natural Resources Local Connection Grant Program
requires all owners of property over which a trail is constructed complete a formal agreement
allowing construction on their property; and
WHEREAS, the City of Arden Hills and Ramsey County Parks and Recreation
Department have negotiated an agreement allowing construction and establishing obligations
for use, ongoing maintenance, replacement and reconstruction of their respective trails; and

WHEREAS, the City of Arden Hills hereby assures that the Perry Park Regional
Trail Connection will be maintained for a period of no less than 20 years; and
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: The City of Arden Hills accepts the
grant award from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resource's Local Trail Connection
Grant Program for a Perry Park regional trail connection and will enter into an agreement
with the State of Minnesota for the above referenced project. The City of Arden Hills will
comply with all applicable laws, environmental requirements and regulations as stated in the
grant agreement; and
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: The City Council of the
City of Arden Hills names the fiscal agent for the City of Arden Hills for this project as:
