SUBJECT:
BACKGROUND
The October 13 TCAAP work session will be focused on streetscaping and street-related
amenities, such as trails and sidewalks, and how they relate to the various types of roadways
planned as part of the TCAAP redevelopment.
The work session will begin with a relatively brief presentation to provide background
information regarding streetscaping, trees, and lighting; then move into discussions about
streetscape elements and street-related amenities, such as trails and sidewalks, for each of the
planned street types. The following is an outline of the work session presentation/discussion.
A. Background information presentation
· Provide an explanation and visuals to show what "mid-level" streetscape
amenities are.
· Show types, colors, and heights of the street trees that are proposed
· Show the lighting types and options that fit the "mid-level" cost range
· Present information regarding designing and maintaining median/boulevard
landscaping to ensure it survives over the long term
· Present information and visuals regarding traffic calming options.
B. Presentation/discussion regarding the cross-sections of the various street types, including the
appropriate streetscape elements and sidewalks/trails. The purpose of the presentation and
discussion is to facilitate the council providing direction in the following areas for each street
type:
1. General type and level of landscaping
2. General type and level of lighting
3. Should the street have medians/boulevards?
