Memorandum dated October 15, 2008 from City Administrator ~ DEN HILLS MEMORANDUM DATE: October 13, 2008 TO: Mayor and City Council Ron Moorse, City Administrator tf i1 TCAAP Streets and Infrastructure FROM: SUBJECT: BACKGROUND The October 13 TCAAP work session will be focused on streetscaping and street-related amenities, such as trails and sidewalks, and how they relate to the various types of roadways planned as part of the TCAAP redevelopment. The work session will begin with a relatively brief presentation to provide background information regarding streetscaping, trees, and lighting; then move into discussions about streetscape elements and street-related amenities, such as trails and sidewalks, for each of the planned street types. The following is an outline of the work session presentation/discussion. A. Background information presentation · Provide an explanation and visuals to show what "mid-level" streetscape amenities are. · Show types, colors, and heights of the street trees that are proposed · Show the lighting types and options that fit the "mid-level" cost range · Present information regarding designing and maintaining median/boulevard landscaping to ensure it survives over the long term · Present information and visuals regarding traffic calming options. B. Presentation/discussion regarding the cross-sections of the various street types, including the appropriate streetscape elements and sidewalks/trails. The purpose of the presentation and discussion is to facilitate the council providing direction in the following areas for each street type: 1. General type and level of landscaping 2. General type and level of lighting 3. Should the street have trails/sidewalks? a. Width of trail/sidewalk b. Trail/sidewalk on one or both sides of the street C. Presentation Materials The presentation materials have been emailed to the Council. Color copies will be provided at the work session.
