The Council has received materials related to the NYFS facility expansion project that will create
the Discovery Center. The project involves a substantial fundraising campaign. A resolution in
support of the NYFS campaign to create the Discovery Center is attached for Council adoption.

RESOLUTION NO. 2008-053
A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF NORTHWEST YOUTH AND FAMILY
SERVICES CAMPAIGN TO CREATE THE DISCOVERY CENTER
WHEREAS, the Northwest Youth and Family Services mission is to prepare
youth and families for healthy lives;
WHEREAS, the City of Arden Hills greatly values the contributions Northwest
Youth & Family Services has provided for Arden Hills residents for over 30 years;
WHEREAS, Northwest Youth & Family Services of Minnesota is constructing
the Discovery Center to provide hands-on, experientialleaming and physical activity;
WHEREAS, the Discovery Center will be a community resource for youth sports,
meeting, festivals, and family celebrations;
WHEREAS, an estimated 9,000 participants are expected to utilize the Discovery
Center annually;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Arden Hills City Council
hereby supports and endorses the Northwest Youth and Family Services Campaign to
create the Discovery Center.
