SUBJECT: 2009 Liquor License Renewals
Back2round:
The following Arden Hills businesses have requested renewal of their City liquor licenses for
2009. The City has received the required Certificates of Insurance and application forms and has
requested the appropriate background checks necessary for obtaining these license renewals.

Discussion:
Due to the vacancy of the Assistant City Administrator and the recent hiring of an Office Support
Specialist to fill the vacancy created in May, the timeline for completing the licensing was
delayed~ All paperwork has been submitted and we are waiting to receive the background checks
from Ramsey County.
Since the cUrrent licenses expire on December 31, 2008, staff would recommend that the Council
approve these licenses contingent on the City receiving appropriate findings on the background
checks from the County Sheriff. This would allow staff to process these licenses which still need
to go to the State for approval before they can be issued.
Recommended Action:
Motion by the City Council to approVe the 2009 liquor license applications contingent on
receiving acceptable background checks necessary for obtaining these license renewals.
