Ordinance Amendment Regarding Volunteer Commission

The Council has directed staff to draft an ordinance amendment to increase the authorized
number of members on the Parks, Trails, and Recreation Committee to "up to 12", and to
increase the authorized p.umber of members on the Financial Planning and Analysis Committee
to "up to 6". The Council also. directed that the membership criteria for these committees be
made similar to the criteria for the Economic Development Committee, which allows a portion
of the membership to be non-residents. An ordinance reflecting the Council's direction is
attached for the Council's approval.

ORDINANCE NO. 2009-001
AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO THE MEMBERSHIP COMPOSITION OF
THE PARKS, TRAILS, AND RECREATION COMMITTEE AND THE
FINANCIAL PLANNING AND ANALYSIS COMMITTEE
The Arden Hills City Council ordains that Section 220.05 Subdivision 2 and Section
220.07 Subdivision 2 of the Arden Hills City Code are hereby amended to read as
follows:
Section 220.05. Parks.. Trails and Recreation Committee.
Subdivision 2. Composition. The Parks, Trails and Recreation Committee shall
consist of up to twelve (12) members appointed by the City Council. The membership
may be open to any resident, or non-resident affiliated with an Arden Hills business, that
is interested in the City's Parks, Trails and Recreation Programs. At all times, a majority
of the Committee membership shall be current residents of Arden Hills. Geographical
balance may be used as criteria for selecting new members.
Section 220.07. Financial Plannin2: and Analvsis Committee.
Subdivision 2. Composition. The Financial Planning and Analysis Committee
shall consist of up to six (6) members appointed by the City Council. Membership may
be open to any resident or non-resident who has financial planning and analysis expertise.
At all times, a majority of the Committee membership shall be current residents of Arden
Hill~.
Effective Date. This Ordinance' shall becorne effective the 22nd day of January, 2009.
Adoption Date. Passed by the City Council of the City of Arden Hills the 12th day of
January, 2009.
