MEMORANDUM
DATE: March 9,2009
TO: Mayor & City Council
FROM: James Lehnhoff, Community Development Director
SUBJECT: Resignation of Edward Werner from the EDC
ReQuested Action
Motion to accept the resignation of Edward Werner from the Economic Development
Commission.
Back2round
On February 13, 2009, Edward Werner submitted his resignation from the Economic
Development Commission (EDC). Due to his job, Mr. Werner has been unable to attend a
number of meetings, and he does not anticipate his schedule changing in the near future. Mr.
Werner's appointment had been set to expire at the end of2010. A replacement for his position
would fulfill the remainder of his term.
With Mr. Werner's resignation, three of the nine positions on the EDC will be vacant. The two
other vacant positions would have appointments that expire at the end of2010 and 2011. No
applications have been submitted to the City. The open positions have been posted to the web
and on CTV.
Based on the current composition of the EDC, the vacancies could be filled by residents or non-
residents affiliated with an Arden Hills business. According to the City Code, at least four
members of the EDC shall be residents of Arden Hills, and we currently have four residents on
the Commission.

To the members and staff of the Arden Hills Economic Development Commission:
Due to the extreme duties assigned to me with the Minnesota Senate, it seems appropriate
