Pavement Cutting Saw Purchase
BACKGROUND
Included in the adopted 2009 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) was the purchase of a pavement
cutting saw estimated to cost $7000.00. Our Public Works department currently rents or borrows this
equipment as needed, which can pose scheduling issues for our crews and with Ramsey County if we
borrow theirs. This equipment will assist our Public Works crews in patching streets, water main
breaks, manhole adjustments and other pavement repairs. It is estimated that this equipment will
have a 20 year useful life.
Staff has looked at several different saws and has determined that a Husqvama model FS520 is best
for our needs. We have obtained a quote from Esch Construction Supply, Inc. for $5,374.10
including tax.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends purchasing a new pavement cutting saw from Esch Construction Supply, Inc.
located in St. Paul MN, for a cost not to exceed $5,374.10, to be funded from the
Equipment/Building Replacement Fund.
