Documents: 1, See the attached memo from Michelle Olson, Parks and Recreation Manager ~ ...IIIS MEMORANDUM DATE: June 23, 2009 TO: Mayor and City Council Ron Moorse, City Administrator FROM: Michelle Olson, Parks and Recreation Manager SUBJECT: Safe Routes to School Project Donation BACKGROUND At the City Council Work Session on March 19, 2009, staffpresented the Safe Routes to School Project cost analysis. Council directed staff to work on finding cost savings within the project. During this process, Michelle Olson and James Lehnhoff approached Daniel Riehle from Boston Scientific regarding a possible donation toward the Safe Routes to School Project. Daniel Riehle from Boston Scientific researched the possibilities and informed the City that they would like to make a donation of $10,000. The only stipulation given regarding the donation is that it would be utilized for the Safe Routes to School Program. Staff extends their appreciation to Boston Scientific for their generous donation. The Safe Routes to School Project is tentatively scheduled for construction sometime in the spring of 2010. Staffwill keep Boston Scientific updated on the progress of the project and will invite them to any ground breaking that may occur.
