Emergency Management Presentation
BACKGROUND
In late May staff provided Council with the current working draft of the Arden Hills Emergency
Operations Procedures, which is a supplemental document to be used along with the Ramsey
County Emergency Management Plan which was adopted by the City Council on November 14,
2005 as the City plan. Council was also given a copy of a publication titled Emergency
Management Handbook for Government Officials. This book provides a very good overview on
how to handle emergency situations.
In late May staff also requested that representatives from Ramsey County Emergency
Management and Homeland Security review our draft operating procedures. Ramsey County
has reviewed our procedures and provided us with some minor suggested changes. Staff will be
reviewing and incorporating these suggestions as needed to finish the current revision of the
procedures.
Mr. Judd Freed, Ramsey County Emergency Management and Homeland Security Director will
be present at the July 20, 2009 Work Session to provide the Council with an overview of
Emergency Management as well as to answer any questions the Council may have.
