Memorandum dated October 12, 2009 from Public Works Director. �;.� EN HILLS MEMORANDUM DATE: October 12, 2009 TU: Honorable Mayor and City Council Members Ron Moorse, City Administrator FROM: Greg Hoag, Public Works Director SUBJECTo Safety Consultant and Training Service Agreement Back�round City Staff has been exploring options for our OSHA related safety training. There are many options to consider for this type of training. With the ever changing safety rules and requirements it is difficult for our staff to keep abreast of the changes. In 2009 we did not renew our agreement with Integrated Loss Control Inc. (ILC) While ILC provided the minimum required training needed, staff wanted to explore other providers for this service. The Cities of Little Canada, Vadnais Heights, and Falcon Heights have been using Safe Assure services inc. for the past several years. The three cities have formed a group and rotate host facilities for the bi-monthly training. Arden Hills has inquired about j oining the group. Safe Assure believes that allowing us to j oin the group will allow them to continue to offer the same level of service to all and possibly add a second training session of the same topic to help with overall scheduling. Financial Implications Safe Assure has offered to bring Arden Hills into the group. The cost to j oin the group will be $1,700.00 for year 2010, which under the current schedule runs from October 2009 through December of 2010. In addition, to keep our staff in compliance for 2009, we will need to complete some additional training and review of our existing policy manual. The cost of this additional training and policy manual review will be $1,3 00.00. This is a budgeted item in the general fund and enterprise accounts. Recommendation It is recommended that Council authorize Staff to enter into an agreement for safety consultant and training services with Safe Assure services inc. for the time period of October 2009 to December 2010. Council Action Requested Motion to authorize Staff to enter into an agreement with Safe Assure services Inc. for safety consultant and training services for the time period of October 2009 to December 2010 in an amount not to exceed $3,000.00.
