SUBJECT: Resolution establishing a three hour time limit for all City meetings, including
work sessions and special Council meetings
Back�round
In 2001, the City Council adopted a resolution establishing a time limit for all City meetings.
The resolution is attached. At its October 28 work session, the Council directed that the
resolution be amended to provide for a three hour time limit for all city meetings including work
sessions and special Council meetings. A resolution establishing the three hour time limit is
attached for Council consideration.
Council Action Requested
Motion regarding the attached resolution establishing a three hour time limit for all City
meetings, including work sessions and special Council meetings.

'V'�HEREAS, the City Council of Arden Hills want� io conduct all Ciiy meeti�.gs
wit� efficiency and effectiveness; and
WHEREAS, the Counc�l v�an�s ta balance the City Council needs for pub�ic
inp�t with the need for making decisions and moving ahead vvith p�roj ects, �rograms, and
services; and
WHE�ZEAS, the City Council vc�anis ta extend the idea of conducting effective,
ef�cient and decisive m�etings to City Council work sessions and special meetings;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of �he City of
Arde� Hills that:
A�� City meetings wi�� have a��ree hou� time �imit, un�ess a motion i� rrlade,
seconded, and approved by maj o�iiy present, to extend the rneeting for a
ceriain period of time, or unt�l a certain time.
