SUBJECT: TCAAP Reuse and Public Sale Update
General Service Administration (GSA) Conference Call
A conference call with the GSA is scheduled for Monday, January 11, 2010. An update of the
phone call will be provided at the Council meeting.
The next GSA conference call is tentatively scheduled for Monday, January 25.
Ramsey County Trail Corridor, Trailhead, and Wildlife Corridor Update
At the December 21, 2009, special meeting, the City Council unanimously approved a resolution
to support transferring land from the Twin Cities Army Ammunition Plant (TCAAP) property to
Ramsey County for the Rice Creek South Regional Trail Corridor, the Arden Hills Army
Training Site (AHATS) Trailhead, and the Wildlife Corridor. A copy of the resolution was sent
to Greg Mack, Parks and Recreation Director for Ramsey County. Mr. Mack is working with the
Ramsey County board to schedule a discussion about the concepts, and he stated it may occur at
their January 19, 2010, meeting. The mechanism for transferring the property to Ramsey County
has not been determined, though Mr. Mack is exploring what options may exist with the GSA
and National Guard.
Congressional Updates
A letter was sent to the congressional and legislative delegations on Friday, January 8, 2010.
The primary purpose of the letter was to share the City's position on the Ramsey County trail
corridor, trailhead, and wildlife corridor concepts. The letter also included a copy of the TCAAP
Reuse Statement and the City's continued concerns about ensuring the timely remediation of the
TCAAP property.
