This matter was scheduled for the Council's February 22, 2010, meeting for a 10-minute presentation to allow for information sharing with the public. Meg Robertson will be present at the meeting to discussion the future of the Ramsey County Library branch in Arden Hills. Services include: • Targeted non-requestable collections • Community program room • Children's services, space,computers • At least one storytime weekly • Multi-use space for teens and adults • Summer Reading Program • Full-service computers • After-hours materials return • Basic information assistance with • A minimum of 35 open hours per centralized support week with a goal of 40 hours Site Criteria Concentration of Popular Destinations The ideal location is near acommercial/retail area and high-density housing. Other desirable adjacencies would include schools, community centers, and other civic amenities. • Commercial area adjacent • Other adjacencies • Housing density • Highly-trafficked area Accessibility/Visibility The site should be easily accessible. It should have potential for clear signage and easily- identifiable entry points. • Patron and delivery vehicle access • Bicycle/pedestrian access • Public transportation access • Visibility Capacity The site should allow for drive space to accommodate delivery vehicles and an after-hours materials return. • Parking and onsite traffic • Availability of fiber connections Distribution As much as is feasible, each site should be chosen to spread libraries geographically, while minimizing the portion of the site's service radius that is outside of suburban Ramsey County. Surrounding Environment The site should be located in an area with a strong positive identity and image. • Natural beauty, views 0 Potential for outdoor program space
