SUBJECT: Support of Reducing Speed Limit on US 10 and T.H. 51 in Arden
Hills
Back�round
At the February 16, 2010 council Worksession, Council reported on Senator Chaudhary's
open house and that he was interested in working with us on reducing speed limits on US
10 and T.H. 51 through Arden Hills. Council directed staff to draft a resolution of
support to Senator Chardhary to author legislation. Council also directed staff to draft a
separate resolution for Representative Knuth.
Council Action
Adopt Resolution 2010-012, a resolution supporting State Senator Satveer Chaudhary in
authoring a bill requesting decreases in the speed limits of the sections of US Highway 10
and Trunk Highway 51 within the City of Arden Hills to 50 m.p.h.
Adopt Resolution 2010-013, a resolution supporting State Representative Kate Knuth in
authoring a bill requesting decreases in the speed limits of the sections of US Highway 10
and Trunk Highway 51 within the City of Arden Hills to SO m.p.h.

RESOLUTION NO. 2010-012
A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING STATE SENATOR SATVEER CHAUDHARY
IN AUTHORING A BILL REQUESTING DECREASES IN THE SPEED LIMITS
OF THE SECTIONS OF US HIGHWAY 10 AND TRUNK HIGHWAY 51
WITHIN THE CITY OF ARDEN HILLS TO 50 M.P.H.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Arden Hills is concerned for the safety and
welfare of all persons using US Highway 10 and Trunk Highway 51.
WHEREAS, the section of US Highway 10 contained within the City of Arden Hills,
extending from the City border to County Highway 96, has an established speed limit of 55
M.P.H.
WHER.EAS, the section of US Highway 10 contained within the City of Arden Hills,
extending from County Highway 96 to Interstate 694, has an established speed limit of 60
M.P.H.
WHEREAS, all other sections of US Highway 10 have an established speed limit of 60
M.P.H. or greater.
WHEREAS, the section of Trunk Highway 51, extending from Interstate 694 in the City
of Arden Hills to Lydia Avenue in the City of Roseville, has an established speed limit of 55
M.P.H.
WHEREAS, all other sections of Trunk Highway 51 have an established speed limit of
50 M.P.H. or lower.
WHEREAS, Minnesota State Senator Satveer Chaudrey has expressed support helping
the City of Arden Hills in lowering the speed limits for portions of US Highway 10 and Trunk
Highway 51 contained within the City for reasons of public safety.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: The City Council hereby supports State Senator
Satveer Chaudhary in authoring a bill before the Minnesota Senate requesting a decrease in the
speed limit of the sections of US Highway 10 and Trunk Highway 51 within the City of Arden
Hills to 50 M.P.H.
ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARDEN HILLS THIS
