SUBJECT: Resolution 2010-030 to Allow Lake Region Hockey to Conduct
Charitable Gambling at Big 10 Supper Club
BACKGROUND
On January 11, 2008, the City Council approved a resolution for a two year license period to
allow Lake Region Hockey to conduct charitable gambling at the Big 10 Supper Club. Lake
Region Hockey has submitted an application to renew this license and a background check has
been completed.
Lake Region Hockey reports that their proceeds go to the Mounds View and Irondale youth
hockey programs to help the families of youth in this area pay for ice time. Through their
Willard Fund, they assist families with hardships to afford the cost of their child playing hockey.
They also award scholarships to graduating seniors who will be attending college and have
participated in their youth hockey programs. The families benefiting from these donations live
in Arden Hills, Shoreview, New Brighton, Mounds View, Vadnais Heights and North Oaks.
RECOMMENDATION
Motion to approve Resolution 2010-030 to allow Lake Region Hockey to conduct charitable
gambling at the Big 10 Supper Club for a two year period expiring June 14, 2012.
