HomeMy WebLinkAbout07-12-10-WS'~~`- EN HILLS Approved: CITY OF ARDEN HILLS, MINNESOTA CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION MEETING JULY 12, 2010 5:30 P.M. - ARDEN HILLS CITY HALL CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, Mayor Stan Harpstead called to order the City Council Work Session meeting at 5:34 p.m. Present: Mayor Stan Harpstead; Council Members Fran Holmes, David McClung, David Grant and Brenda Holden Also present: City Administrator, Patrick Klaers; Consultant Richard Fursman of Brimeyer Fursman APPROVAL OF AGENDA MOTION: Councilmember McClung moved and Councilmember Holmes seconded a motion to approve the meeting agenda as, p_nted. The motion carried unanimously (5-0). Councilmember Grant announced that he had some comments to share with the Council but would do so after the following item was completed. 2. AGENDA ITEMS A. Richard Fursman of Brimeyer Fursman - Onboardin~ Mayor Harpstead requested Mr, Fursman to lead the discussion on the survey that Council members had completed. Mr. Fursman reviewed with the Council the response to each survey question. Mr. Fursman noted that most of the survey results indicated that the City Council was of a similar mind set as to how the Council should be interacting with the staff and the City Administrator. The Council concurred with this conclusion. ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION -JULY 12, 2010 2 ~. ______ The Council discussed the work priorities for the Administrator and how the Council would be evaluating the Administrator during his six month performance review. Work priorities that were discussed included TCAAP, running an effective organization, leading the team, and getting to know the community. The Council also discussed the existing City staff performance evaluation forms and a "360" review process. On the performance review and work priorities topics, there was no consensus reached by the Council and it was requested that these issues be placed on an upcoming work session agenda. 1. COUNCIL COMMENTS Council member Grant stated that the City needs to pay much more attention to maintaining the gardens along Highway 96 and that, with the exception of the few gardens that have been cleaned out, they reflect poorly on the City in their current condition.
