RESOLUTION NO.2010-051
RESOLUTION REGARDING THE ARDEN HILLS LIBRARY
WHEREAS,the land where the Arden Hills library is located was given to Ramsey County by the
residents of Arden Hills for use as a library; and
WHEREAS, the Arden Hills library is located at a beautiful natural setting with easy access to
major highways, near to schools, and with interconnecting bike and walking trails leading directly thereto;
WHEREAS, the City of Arden Hills (the City) is currently providing ongoing maintenance to the
Arden Hills library to help defray the expenses at that site; and
WHEREAS the Arden Hills library needs capital improvements or a new building in order for it to
continue to be a functioning library; and
WHEREAS, the Ramsey County Library Board has selected another option for library service in
the area served by the Arden Hills library; and
WHEREAS, the city does not consider the facility options presented by the Ramsey County
Library Board to be viable as long term solutions.
NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF ARDEN HILLS in the interest of its
residents and the surrounding community to have cost-effective and superior library service remain at its
current extremely popular site:
1. The City strongly advocates that the Arden Hills library should continue offering services at its
existing site and that its facility be improved or replaced with cost effective solutions.
2. The Ramsey County Library Board and the Ramsey County Board of Commissioners should take
more time to consider the options and the solutions for library service to the communities served
by the Arden Hills library.
3. The City would be willing to meet with the Ramsey County Board of Commissioners and/or the
Ramsey County Library Board to discuss a partnering arrangement where Arden Hills would
assist with capital and operating expenses to maintain the library at its current site.
