DRAFT DRAFT DRAFT <br /> I /28/2011 <br /> CITY OF CENTERVILLE <br /> A?�iOKA COUNTY, MINNESOTA <br /> ORDINANCE # <br /> SECOND SERIES <br /> AI�' ORDINAI�'CE AMENDI?�'G CITY CODE , CHAPTER 90, SECTIONS 90.01 and <br /> 90.05 <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CENTERVILLE ORDAINS: <br /> Section L City Code Chapter 90, Section 90.01 is hereby amended by substituting <br /> the following definitions for definitions with the same name: <br /> (2) No�ldomestic. NONDOMESTIC ANIMALS shall mean those animals <br /> coinmonly considered to be naturally wild and not naturally trained or <br /> domesticated, or which are commonly considered to be inherently dangerous <br /> to the health, safety and welfare of people. Animals normally kept outside of <br /> the home for the purpose of food or pleasure, namely wild dogs, wild cats, <br /> cattle, sheep, horses, goats, birds such as fowl, falcons and similar animals, <br /> are included in addition to those defined: <br /> (3) Farm. FARM ANIMALS shall mean those animals commonly �� <br /> associated with a farm or performing work in an agricultural setting. Unless <br /> otherwise defined, these animals shall include members of the equine family ' <br /> (horses and mules), bovine family (cows and bulls), sheep, poultry (chickens �� <br /> and turkeys), fowl (ducks and geese), swine (including Vietnamese pot-bellied �� <br /> pigs), goats, honey bees and other animals associated with a farm, ranch or <br /> stable. <br /> Section 2. City Code Chapter 90, Section 90.05, is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> Farm animals shall only be kept in an agricultural district of the city or on a <br /> residential lot of at least ten acres in size, provided that no animal shelter shall � <br /> be within 3UU feet of an adjoining piece of property. Except that honey bees <br /> may be kept in other residential areas subject the following conditions: 1) Lot <br /> size shall be a minimum of one-half acre, 2) No more than two bee colonies <br /> shall be allowed, 3) Hives shall be setback from property lines a minimum of <br /> 25 feet, 4) Permission must be obtained from owners of all property abutting <br /> the proposed site, 5) A permit shall be obtained from the city, and 6) <br /> Applicant must document at least 16 hours of training in beekeeping. <br /> An exception shall also be made to this section for those animals brought into <br /> the city as part of education, an operating zoo, veterinarian clinic, scientific <br /> research laboratory or a licensed sho��� or exhibition. <br />
