DRAFT DRAFT DRAFT <br /> 1/31/2011 <br /> CITY OF CENTERVILLE � <br /> ANOKA COUNTY, MINNESOTA <br /> ORDINANCE # <br /> SECOND SERIES � <br /> AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CITY CODE CHAPTER 90, SECTIONS 90.01 and <br /> 90.05 <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CENTERVILLE ORDAINS: <br /> Section 1. City Code Chapter 90, Section 90.01 is hereby amended by substituting <br /> the following definitions for definitions with the same name: <br /> (2) Nondomestic. NONDOMESTIC ANIMAI,S shall mean those animals <br /> commonly considered to be naturally wild and not naturally trained or <br /> domesricated, or which are commonly considered to be inherently dangerous <br /> to the health, safety and welfare of people. Animals normally kept outside of <br /> the home for the purpose of food or pleasure, namely wild dogs, wild cats, <br /> cattle, sheep, horses, goats, birds such as fowl, falcons and similar animals, <br /> are included in addition to those defined: <br /> (3) Farm. FARM ANIMALS sha11 mean those animals commonly <br /> associated with a farm or performing work in an agricultural setting. Unless <br /> otherwise defined, these animals shall include members of the equine family <br /> (horses and mules), bovine family (cows and bulls), sheep, poultry (chickens <br /> and turkeys), fowl (ducks and geese), swine (including Vietnamese pot-bellied <br /> pigs), goats, honey bees and other a.nimals associated with a farm, ranch or <br /> stable. <br /> Section 2. City Code Chapter 90, Section 90.02, is hereby amended by adding a <br /> subsection (D) as follows: <br /> (D) Honey Bees. Notwithstanding other provisions of this chapter, a person <br /> may keep honey bee colonies on any premises after first obtaining a license as <br /> provided in this subsection. No license shall be issued except in compliance <br /> with this section. <br /> (1) Lot size sha11 be a minimum of one-half acre, <br /> (2) No more than two honey bee colonies shall be allowed, <br /> (3) Hives shall be setback from property lines a minimum of 25 feet, <br /> (4) Permission must be obtained from owners of all property abutting the <br /> proposed site, <br /> (5) Applicant must document at least 16 hours of training in beekeeping, <br /> and <br /> (6) The colony sha11 be maintained in good order and not be a nuisance <br /> to any member of the publia <br />
