City of Centerville <br /> Council Meeting Minutes <br /> February 23, 2011 <br /> 1.(a) Resolution #11-XX — Issuance and Sale of $2,755,000 General Obligation Refunding Bond, <br /> Series 2011. <br /> Previously discussed. <br /> 2. 2011 Fete des Lacs Parade Funding. <br /> City Administrator Larson stated that one of Council's goals for 2011 was the City Celebration, parade <br /> and fireworks. Council Member Paar stated that he and Ms. Mary Capra both have been approached by <br /> individuals desiring to participate in the City's parade and would like to reserve the date on their <br /> calendars. Council Member Paar stated that planning, organization and fiinding are the keys to making <br /> the annual Fete des Lacs celebration successful, but it is critical that City financial support is in place <br /> before beginning that work. City Administrator Larson stated that $5,500 was budgeted for this year. <br /> Council Member Fehrenbacher volunteered his time to this event and Mayor Wilharber stated that the <br /> Lions will be meeting in the next few weeks to commence their organization of the street dance and ball <br /> tournament. <br /> Motion bv Council Member Wilharber, seconded 6v Council Member Love to approve the <br /> budgeted $5,500 to suaaort the 2011 Fete des Lacs aarade and fireworks All in favor Council <br /> Member King onnosed. Motion carried. <br /> 3. Proposed Amendment to Chapter 111 (Liquor) � Distance from Schools & Churches — <br /> Reduction to 300 rather than 500 feet. <br /> Previously discussed. <br /> 4. Ratification of Centennial Lakes Police Governing Board Appointment of Mr. Jim Coan, Police <br /> Chief/Emergency Management Director. <br /> Both Mayor Wilhazber and Council Member Fehrenbacher gave brief update on this item. <br /> Council Member Fehrenbacher stated that the Governing Board interviewed three candidates and <br /> Mr. Coan was the offered the position and he has accepted. Council Member Fehrenbacher <br /> stated that Mr. Coan has family in the area and desires to move to this area. <br /> City Administrator Larson stated that Mr. Coan has accepted the offer pending member cities' <br /> approval and that Circle Pines and Lexington Council's have passed the same motion that is <br /> before the Council this evening. <br /> Motion bv Council Member Fehrenbacher. seconded bv Council Member Paar to ratifv Mr Jim <br /> Coan's au�ointment as Police Chief/Emergencv Mana�ement Director of the Centennial Lakes <br /> Police Deuartment. <br /> Council Member King desired to have additional information provided on the candidate than what was <br /> in the packet and felt that he could not vote on the matter. <br /> All in favor, egceut Kin� who oaaosed Mo13on carried. <br /> City Administrator Larson stated that once Mr. Coan is on the job, visits will be made to member cities <br /> for introduction. <br /> Page 5 of 6 <br /> 5 <br />
