Parks & Recreation Committee Meeting Minutes 07-06-11 Mr. Paul Palzer, Public Works Director informed the committee that the installation of the irrigarion cannon system will begin July 18, 2011. The Committee questioned whether this would at all interfere with Fete des Lacs? Committee Member Amundsen also stated there is dead grass that probably will need to be replaced. Consideration of Reserving/Renting of Parks Committee Member Seeley felt the fee to reserve/use a park should be kept minimal, but the deposit for cleanup should be higher, for instance $25/$150. She stated the biggest problem Anoka County Parks has is this mess left after an event. A lengthy discussion was had as to whom to chazge, how to charge, and the reasons behind possibly charging for use of the parks. The comrnittee tabled this item until the next scheduled meeting for further discussion. Bald Eagle Water Ski Shows Bald Eagle Water Ski Club sustained damage to their jump during the July l storm but are repairing it. Large trees also fell on the Trailside Park property during the same storm. The trees are owned by St. Paul Water Utility who will have them removed from the property. There is concern about seeing more lake shore erosion with the loss of the big trees on the shore. Thursday, July 7th will be the ski club's first show. Music in the Park A practice session was held Tuesday, July 5�' with Mr. Tom Lee's Band and the City's PA system. � Committee Member Amundsen, Committee Member Peterson and Vice-Chairperson Grahek set up and operated the equi�ment. Mr. Lee will assist with the set up for the first Music in the Park event on I Tuesday, July 12 . Ms. Stephan requested a committee member take responsibility for each Music in I the Park event to insure there was at least one member available to greet the band, show them where the j performance would be, deliver the payment and be responsible for set up and take down of the , equipment. There are also 2 events where ice cream and popcorn will be available to the residents at the � performance. July 12 BBB Jazz Combo Committee Member Peterson July 19 Rusty's Rocking Jamboree (Popcorn & Ice Cream) July 26 Mean Gene & the Woodticks August 9 BBB Jazz Orchestra Committee Member Seeley August 16 Tom Lee (Ice Cream) August 23 7 Cats Swing Committee members needed to check their schedules before committing to an evening. Signage for Trails Chairperson Branch and Committee Member Seeley continue to gather information to present to the committee, both from Anoka County Parks and other cities.
