Office of
EMERGENCY SERVICES
Anoka County Courthouse
C I 325 E. Main Street
Anoka, MN 55303 MAR J ;
(612) 323 -5828
March li C /' I 5 ; /i✓ '` - `'
/ cV
To: Anoka County City Civil Defense Directors
J
Enclosed is the 1998 Severe Storms Awareness Week packet of information sent
to Anoka County by the State of Minnesota. This year the Severe Storms
Awareness week is April 20 -24, with the state wide tornado drill scheduled for
Thursday, April 23, at 1:45 p.m. Anoka County is one of the 24 counties which
have chosen to conduct a second tornado drill the evening of April 23 at 6:55 p.m.
The State of Minnesota will be sending mailings to the schools, hospitals, and
nursing homes statewide during the week of March 16 -20. One suggestion,
forwarded to us from the City of Blaine, is to send packets to different groups in the
community each year. This year they have chosen the mobile home parks within the
City of Blaine, and in years past, they have sent the information packets to senior
housing complex's, daycare centers, etc. Another way to notify the community is
by placing this information on your local cable access channel. This is a great
opportunity to make your entire community aware of the dangers of severe weather.
If you have any questions, please feel free to call me at 323 -5828 or my assistant,
Kelli Rogers at 323 -5820.
Sincerely,
Bruce Wojack
Emergency Services Director
B W /kr
Enc: 1998 Severe Storms Awareness Packet
Affirmative Action / Equal Opportunity Employer
