CITY OF CENTERVILLE NOT APPROVED <br /> SPECIAL MEETING <br /> WEDNESDAY, MAY 20, 1998 <br /> Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the City Council of the <br /> City of Centerville held a special meeting on Wednesday, May 20, <br /> 1998 at City Hall, 1880 Main Street. <br /> PRESENT: Acting Mayor Mary Jo Helmbrecht <br /> Council Members: Theresa Brenner <br /> Laura Powers <br /> ABSENT: Mayor Tom Wilharber <br /> Councilmember Sanna Buckbee <br /> STAFF: Administrator Jim March <br /> City Clerk Ry -Chel Gaustad <br /> Public Works Director /Building Official Paul Palzer <br /> + * + + + ** * * *+********************* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * ** <br /> Engineering Proposals <br /> The Council considered engineering proposals from the firms of <br /> Bolton & Menk, Inc., Howard R. Green Company, Bonestroo Rosene <br /> Anderlik & Associates, BRW, McCombs Frank Roos Associates, Inc., <br /> Hakanson Anderson Assoc., Inc., and RLK - Kuusisto, Ltd. Mr. <br /> March briefed the Council on the proposals received and made <br /> recommendation on behalf of himself and Mr. Palzer. Furthermore, <br /> the four firms that ranked highest on their list are Bonestroo <br /> Rosene Anderlik & Associates, BRW, Howard R. Green Company and <br /> Bolton & Menk, Inc. Mayor Wilharber made written comments about <br /> the firms which ranked highest on his list. The Council was in <br /> consensus of the Staffs findings. <br /> After reviewing the proposals, Mr. March recognized there are <br /> several different billing methods. In addition, the proposals <br /> sparked many good ideas. Mr. March elaborated on a few of the <br /> ideas. Some firms offer an open house to show plans to <br /> residents. Also, some engineering firms execute a newsletter to <br /> the citizens with updates on city projects. ' <br /> Mr. March was interested to learn about the training and <br /> certificates received by the engineering firm employees. In <br /> addition, the key personnel assigned to Centerville, the years of <br /> experience and education. Another interesting note is one firm <br /> offered a `Hotline" for citizens to call with questions, where as <br /> another firm conducts monthly brainstorm sessions with staff and <br /> senior engineers. <br /> Councilmember Helmbrecht suggested a format and forms to use <br />
