Special Thanks to everyone who attended the Preliminary Meeting for the Design Team (Tuesday, Aug. 25, 1998)! Great ideas for a great start! Concerns Regarding Centerville With growth, noise level is too high, especially along the main traveled roads through town. Too many cars & too many people already. The unappealing and "cluttered look" with the current downtown businesses. Community pride Poor water quality of Lakes, especially with new developments. Garbage from Waterworks in lakes and around shores. Underage drinking at Waterworks. Waterworks & Main Str. too much a police "troubled area." Current parks are too "tucked away", dark and not very inviting. Would Never Like To See In Centerville • No new businesses in what is considered the current downtown area. • No new bars in Centerville. No freeways through Centerville. (14 or Main Str., grand plan for future highways can be found at public library.) • No new duplexes or multiple- unit - housing complexes in Centerville (excluding Senior Housing) Never allow businesses on city's vacant land (Sorel Str. & Centerville Rd.) Would Like To See Changed In Centerville • Move all businesses down east toward freeway area -- Keep all businesses in the same area, not peppered throughout the town. Create a new area for "Downtown" (i.e. - more towards 35, 20th & Main) Turn current downtown area into residential area. Clean up look of current Centerville businesses. Give them more of a quaint look. Get rid of multiple buildings per business, especially those that are falling apart. Restore buildings and homes in Centerville to original condition. Get regulations or covenants for businesses & homes "in the books" so as to ensure consistent and constant esthetic appeal. Take down old public works buildings on Sorel Str. and move out of downtown area arrd closer to 20th & 14. p Keep all city offices together. mw,-)
