City Council Meeting February 12, 1997 <br /> _Cable Resolution 97 -04 <br /> MOTION by Helmbrecht, seconded by Brenner to appoint Sanna Buckbee as the Cable <br /> Member and James March as alternate. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> Cable Resolution 97 -05 <br /> MOTION by Buckbee, seconded by Helmbrecht to approve transferring community <br /> television programming responsibilities from group west of the North Central Suburbs <br /> d/b /a Meredith Cable to the North Central Suburban Cable Communication Commission. <br /> Motion carried unanimously. <br /> Senior Housing Update <br /> Brenner reported Barott's are interested in selling their property to the city. Brenner and <br /> March had drove by the house, and said its a nice location being so close to the city <br /> center, utilities and sewer and water. <br /> Mayor Wilharber thanked Mr. March and Councilmember Brenner for working so hard on <br /> this project and agreed with Councilmember Brenner in regards to the location being by <br /> the city center and utilities. <br /> NEW BUSINESS: <br /> Health Insurance - Medica <br /> March explained health insurance is one issue holding up the union contract. The union <br /> neigotiatiers have requested $335.00 per month for insurance. March explained the city <br /> currently has an option to add Medica Select, which would save the city $1,020 a month. <br /> In 1996 the City paid $19,388.20 in benefits. March recommended the City continue to <br /> pay 50% of the individual health insurance premium for permanent part-time employees up <br /> to a maximum of $100 per month. In addition the city pay a flat fee of $150 per month for <br /> permanent full -time employees electing single health insurance coverage. Any amount <br /> over the $150 premium will be paid by the employee. ANy amount under the $150 <br /> premium can be used for additional life insurance or taken as deferred compensation. <br /> March recommended the City adopt a flat fee of $300 per month for permanent full -time <br /> employees selecting family health insurance coverage. Any amount over the $300 <br /> permium will be paid by employee. Any amount under the $300 premium can be used for <br /> purchasing additional life insurance or taken as deferred compensation. <br /> MOTION by Helmbrecht, seconded by Brenner to approve the recommendation for <br /> health insurance and the maximum premium as per Jim. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> COMMITTEE REPORT: <br /> Mayor Wilharber commented on February 13, he planned to attend the Police Commission <br /> Meeting, which is on the same night of the Lions meeting. Mayor Wilharber commented <br /> the Lions had asked him to speak but due to the schedule conflict he will not be able to. <br /> 7 <br />
