DATE: May 9, 1997 <br /> TO Honorable Mayor and Council <br /> FROM: Ry -Chel Gaustad, City Clerk <br /> RE: Waterworks Beach Club - Summer Jam `97 <br /> Mr. Ken Sorenson has requested to hold Summer Jam `97 on June 28, at Waterworks Beach <br /> Club. Councilmember Powers- Rasmussen has been working with Mr, Sorenson to address any <br /> concerns expressed from past events. Some areas of concern are parking, noise, trash, and <br /> language. <br /> Mr. Sorenson is working with Wayne Thompson, Anoka County Parks Department to organize <br /> parking at the Wargo Nature Center. Officer Gleason suggested Sgt. Parks, Anoka County <br /> Sheriffs Department, man a boat during the event. Further, suggestions were to include a <br /> swimming line across Waterworks Bay to keep boats from coming too close to shore. <br /> Proceeds from the Summer Jam are donated to the Children's Hospital. An amount of $46,000 <br /> was donated to the Children's Hospital in 1996. Officer Gleason suggested some proceeds be <br /> considered for donation to the Police Reserves. <br /> Mr. Sorenson has requested a noise permit. <br />
