CENTERVILLE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE
REGULAR MEETING MINUTES
TUESDAY July 15,1997
Pursuant to dine call and notice thereof, the Centerville Economic
Development Committee held their regular scheduled meeting on
July 15, 1997. Chairperson Tim Rehpine called the meeting to
order at 7:aO P.M. Present: John Magill, Paul Montain, Jim
March, Mary Capra (7:45 P.M.).
Approval o f June 1991 Minut
Motion by Tim Rehbine to approve the June Ion? meeting minutes,
second by Jahn Magill. All in flavor.
Dow ntown Revitalization
Paul Montain, Tim Rehbine, and Jim March went to tour the new
park land that the city purchased to expand LaMotte Park, the
downtown area, and the public works site. lne discussion was
based around the tact of Senior Housing going In close to the
downtown area that maybe street lights, sidewalks, etc., could be
done in phases which could connect the downtown area, senor
housing and LaMotte Park. This could also be done in conyunction
with the trailways project that Anoka County is proposing.
The feasibility of a municipal parking lot at the current public
works site was also discussed if the public works area were to
relocate. It was thought that the parcel has the possibility of
selling off some of the site for commercial development which
would offset the cost of creating the parking lot. The committee
would need to get some ballpark figures together for these
improvements. If feasible then go to the council with the
proposal. The project would be done in phases to help with the
financial impact of the project in whole. It would also be
beneficial to have the zoning regulations for the downtown area
ready to show council at than time.
Star City Goals and Ubjectives
The Welcome Neighbor packets have been going out. John hagall
stated after talking to the people, they seemed to be very
receptive to the idea.
Mary Capra stated the Wall of Fame Awards for barque and Golrron
are going to be awarded during the July Ls, 199/ council meeting.
The La Casse ward with be given at the Nursinp home in wnich he
is in due to his health at the present time.
MUSA /Comp plan /City Water /Downtown Zoning
The Comp plan is still moving along as stated by Jim March. He
will be meeting with Net Council next Thursday on this issue.
