r
WEE K = N REVIEW
Edition # 40 12 -1 -97 through 12 -5 -97
Building permits issued this period = 3
Building permits issued YTD = 158
* Reminder! A workshop has been scheduled for 6:00 on Monday,
12/8/97 to discuss the surface water management plan and to
review the 1998 proposed budget. If anyone does not have a
copy of the budget, please contact me. We have only had a
couple of calls in regards to the Truth in Taxation hearing.
* The interviews have been completed for the position of public
works employee. Seven candidates were interviewed for the
position. It was a unanimous committee decision to recommend
offering the position to Robert Westerlund. Attached to this
Week in Review is Robert's application. It is anticipated
that Robert would begin employment on January 5, 1997. Mr.
Westerlund's background examination has been completed with no
violations being uncovered. Upon approval by the Council to
offer the position, a pre - employment physical and drug
screening would be ordered. The employment of the part -time
employees would be discontinued upon the start of the new
full -time position. Robert Barron has expressed interest in
continuing his relationship with the City in a seasonal or on-
call basis as needed.
* I attended the Park and Recreation meeting that was scheduled
for Wednesday, but there was not a quorum present. The
President and two Vice Presidents from the Chain of Lakes
Little League were present and some informal discussion
occurred on the development of LaMotte Park. It was indicated
that the Little League had funds they would make available for
the ball field construction in the park. The next Little
League season could be completed by 7/4/98. This would work
well for starting the initial phase of construction after the
1998 City celebration.
* I spoke with Dorothy Person from Local Government Consulting
to check on her progress. Dorothy will be present at the
meeting on December 10th to share the results of her job
evaluations, job rankings and market study results. She will
not be able to make any specific recommendations for any
positions until she conducts the pay equity review on her
findings. Dorothy expects to be able to make recommendations
on specific positions approximately the week after Christmas.
