Motion carried unanimously. <br /> Commerical Rubbish Ordinance <br /> MOTION by Helmbrecht to table the commercial rubbish ordinance to the September 17 Council <br /> meeting. Seconded by Brenner. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> Boy Scout Meeting <br /> Councilmember Powers asked fellow members if the local Boy Scout pack could hold their <br /> meeting in the Council Chambers on September 18, 1997. <br /> MOTION by Wilharber to approve a Boy Scout eeting in the Council Chambers on September <br /> 18, 1997. Seconded by Brenner. Wilharber, Brenner, Helmbrecht- Abstain. Powers -Nye. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> Councilmember Brenner discussed the creation of a subcommittee, the Downtown Revitalization <br /> Committee (DRC), from the Economic Development Committee. Councilmember Brenner <br /> explained the DRC meetings would include minutes, budget issues, and redevelopment <br /> recommendations to Council. Additionally, Brenner suggested a one -year limit to prepare a <br /> comprehensive report to the Council. Members for this subcommittee would be appointed by the <br /> Economic Development Committee. <br /> MOTION by Helmbrecht to authorize the creation of the Downtown Revitalization <br /> subcommittee. Seconded by Brenner. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> Joint Police Committee <br /> Mayor Wilharber spoke on upcoming budget proposals for the Lexington- Circle Pines - Centerville <br /> Police Department. The Police Department needs to be at a 3% increase over last year. Even <br /> with this increase, the Mayor explained there will be some cuts, possibly the DARE program, to <br /> compensate for municipal levy limits and federal cuts.
