CITY OF CENTERVILLE <br /> CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br /> WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 12,1997 <br /> Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the City Council of the City of Centerville held an <br /> executive session and their regularly scheduled meeting on Wednesday, November 12, 1997 in the <br /> Council Chambers of City Hall, 1880 Main Street. The executive session was called to order by <br /> Mayor Tom Wilharber at 5:35 p.m. <br /> PRESENT: Mayor Tom Wilharber <br /> Council Members: Theresa Brenner <br /> Mary Jo Helmbrecht <br /> Sanna Buckbee <br /> ABSENT: Councilmember Laura Powers <br /> STAFF PRESENT: City Clerk Ry -Chel Gaustad <br /> Public Works Director/Building Official Paul Palzer <br /> City Attorney Gregory Hellings <br /> Public Works Employee Timothy Danielson <br /> MEETING <br /> Mayor Wilharber opened the meeting to discuss actions of Mr. Timothy Danielson, <br /> Mr. Hellings reported the meeting was closed to discuss possible disciplinary action. Mr. <br /> Danielson requested that the meeting be open. Therefore, the meeting was opened. Furthermore, <br /> Mr. Paul Palzer is present to comment. <br /> Mayor Wilharber noted the regularly scheduled council meeting will follow at the adjournment of <br /> this meeting. Foremost, Mayor Wilharber requested Mr. Danielson to comment on the <br /> allegations. <br /> Mr Danielson briefed the Council on the newspaper occurrence. Mr. Danielson stressed he did <br /> not intentionally take the newspaper from the resident. Furthermore, he apologized to the <br /> LaNlotte family for the occurrence the following day. Mr. Danielson stated since this is the <br /> second occurrence within one year it doesn't look good. However, he stated he is committed to <br /> the City and would like to keep this job. Also, Mr. Danielson commented reading the paper on <br /> the job does not reflect his character. <br /> Mr. Palzer described his struggle with the situation. In Mr..Palzer's opinion, Mr. Danielson <br /> immediately admitted the fault, which is an improvement from the last occurrence. Mr. Palzer <br /> added Mr. Danielson did not intend to take the newspaper. Also, Mr. Danielson disclosed the <br /> information to the Police Department and admitted fault. Mr. Palzer noted Mr. Danielson's <br /> subsequential action of contacting the resident and apologizing for the situation is commendable. <br /> Finally, Mr. Palzer stated Mr. Danielson is a value to the organization, because he is a hard <br />
