CITY OF CENTERVILLE <br /> PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION <br /> TUESDAY, AUGUST 5, 1997 <br /> Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the Planning and Zoning Commission of the City of <br /> Centerville held their regular meeting and a public hearing on August 5, 1997 at 1880 Main <br /> Street, City Hall. <br /> PRESENT: Kathy Welk <br /> Tina Vermeulen <br /> Linda Broussard- Vickers <br /> ABSENT: AI LaMotte <br /> STAFFICONSULTANTS: City Administrator Jim March <br /> City Clerk Ry -Chel Gaustad <br /> Liaison Mary Jo Helmbrcht <br /> OPENING <br /> CONSIDERATION TO GRANT VARIANCE <br /> PUBLIC HEARING CALLED TO ORDER AT 7:00 p.m. <br /> Alternate Chairperson Kathy Welk opened the public hearing to discuss a variance request for a 5' <br /> encroachment on the drainage and utility easement located at Industrial Park, Lot 2, Block 2. Mr. <br /> Rich Tuomi (Odyssey Lures) requested variance approval, because under the current easement <br /> restrictions the parking regulations for the proposed building will not be met. Mr. March reported <br /> Kate Drewry (Rice Creek Watershed District) commented it is a common procedure among <br /> communities to grant a variance to encroach upon an easement. However, Ms. Drewry noted the <br /> direction of the drainage should not flow into the parking lot. <br /> Ms. Brossard - Vickers questioned the direction of flow from the drainage. Mr. Tuomi replied the <br /> drainage will flow southwest of the property. Ms. Welk asked if there were further comments <br /> from the audience. There were no further comments. Ms. Welk also asked Staff if the City <br /> received written comments on the variance. Ms. Gaustad reported the City has not received any <br /> written comments on the proposed variance. <br /> MOTION by Ms. Brossard- Vickers to close the August 5, 1997 public hearing at 7:08 p.m. <br /> Motion seconded by Ms. Vermeulen.
