City Council Meeting Minutes of June 10, 1996
- Mr. March stated that he is trying to set up a joint meeting with P &R and P &Z regarding
the Eagle Pass development.
- Sheehy lot split has received approval from RCWD. Mr. March explained that the city
may not have a say as to lot splits if divided into larger than 5 acre parcels.
Councilmember Buckbee felt that it could be handled administratively.
- Maguire Iron remaining portion of the bill. Maguire Iron feels the city should pay
$1000 -1500 for labor.
- Tom Wilharber suggested that P &R work with the school district regarding park
services. (He noticed an article in the Quad Press regarding Circle Pines doing something
similar.)
CONSENT AGENDA
Both items were removed for discussion.
Melinda Hughes Variance Request
Councilmember Buckbee stated that P &Z needs to follow the criteria listed in ordinance 4
when approving variances.
MOTION by Buckbee, second by Helmbrecht to approve the variance request for Melinda
Hughes, 7181 W. Robin Lane, based on the special conditions and circumstances which
are peculiar to the land, structure and building because the lot size is smaller in the R4
zoning district. That literal interpretation of this ordinance would deprive the petitioner of
rights commonly enjoyed by other properties in the same district. That granting the
variance requested will not confer on the applicant any special privilege that is denied by
this ordinance to other lands, structures, or buildings in the same district. ArAhat the
proposed variance will not impair an adequate supply of light and air to adjacent property,
or unreasonably diminish or impair established property values within the surrounding
area, or in any other respect impair the public health, safety, or welfare of the residents of
the city. Motion carried unanimously.
Apology Letter
Councilmember Hehnbrecht stated that she would like to have the attorney approve the
letter prior to her signing it. She stated she did not want to be in any liability issue.
MOTION by Helmbrecht, second by Brenner to approve the letter of apology to Paul
Palzer written by Councilmember Powers - Rasmussen contingent upon the attorney's
approval. Motion carried, Power - Rasmussen voted nay.
ADJOURN
CC6 -I OMM. WPS 5
