<br />Effective: 12/8/99 <br />City of Centerville Ord. #5 <br />8. The discharge of a rifle or handgun utili7.i"B a solid projectile shall not be <br />allowed within the City of Centerville. <br /> <br />9. The provisions of this Ordinance shall not apply to the discharge offirearms, <br />rifles or handguns when done in the lawful defense of persons or property. <br />No part of this Ordinance is intended to abridge the constitutional right to <br />keep and bear arms. <br /> <br />10. No person shall permit a child under 18 years of age to handle or use, outside <br />of the parent or guardian's presence, a dangerous weapon, dangerous <br />instrument, or any ammunition or explosive. <br /> <br />5.03 Transportation of Firearms. No person shall transport a firearm by vehicle of any type <br />whether motorized or not unless the firearm is: <br /> <br />A Unloaded and in a gun case expressly made to contain a firearm, and the case <br />fully encloses the firearm by being zipped, snapped, buckled, tied, or <br />otherwise fastened, and without any portion of the firearm exposed; or <br /> <br />B. Unloaded and in the closed trunk of a motor vehicle; or <br /> <br />C. A handgun carried in compliance with Minnesota Statutes Sections 624.714 <br />and 624.715; or <br /> <br />5.04 Transportation of Dangerous Weapons. No person shall transport a dangerous weapon by <br />vehicle of any type whether motorized, or not unless the dangerous weapon is: <br /> <br />A. Unstrung; or <br /> <br />B. Completely contained in a case; or <br /> <br />C. In the closed trunk of a motor vehicle. <br /> <br />5.05 Unclaimed Firearms. All firearms including long guns and hand guns of evety kind. coming <br />into the possession of the Centennial Lakes Police ~artment. in the course of its operations on <br />behalf of the City. and remaining unclaimed by the owner(s). shall be subject to disposal under the <br />following terms: <br /> <br />A The Centennial Lakes Police Dq>artment shall take reasonable stq>s to notifY the <br />owner of any firearm.( s) including long gun( s) or hand gun( s) of evety kind subject to <br />disposal that the police department has come into possession of such property. The <br />notice shall further provide that such firearm(s) including long gun(s) or hand gun (s) <br />are subject to disposal within 65 days following the mailing of such notice. <br /> <br />Page 3 of 5 <br />
