<br /> <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and Council Members <br /> <br />FROM: Teresa Bender, City Clerk <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Recent Competitive Rubbish Hauler Mailings <br /> <br />DATE: August 22, 2003 <br /> <br />Recently, several residents have received mailings for rubbish service through BFI at <br />rates that are significantly lower than our current contract. In February or March, ACE <br />Solid Waste also canvassed the Centerville area with a promotional mailing for services <br />at rates that were significantly lower than our current contact <br /> <br />On both occasions, telephone calls were initiated to the respective waste haulers who <br />either apologized or their mailings state that it is an offer only available to Lino Lakes <br />residents. <br /> <br />It is believed that they mailings could have been prevented if the hauler would have <br />modified their mailing area more selectively. <br /> <br />I have attached the City's Ordinance #1, the City's hauler contract and proposed language <br />modification for Ordinance #1 for your review and directive. <br />
