<br />IX. ANNOUNCEMENTSIUPDATES <br /> <br />1. Xcel Energy Lift Station <br /> <br />Mr. Palzer indicated that the outage was attributed to a dead tree that fell during one of <br />the storms but said the tree trimmers will look at Mill Road. <br /> <br />2. Mound Trail Reconstruction <br /> <br />Mr. Peterson indicated that he would be meeting with Mr. Buechler, Mr. Drilling and the <br />superintendent of the contractor to discuss the matter. He then said that he had been told <br />that the project would be able to proceed the third week of September. <br /> <br />3. CounciI/Committee/Commission/County Joint Meeting <br /> <br />Ms. Moore-Sykes recommended either October 1, 2003 or October 7, 2003 for the joint <br />meeting. <br /> <br />There was consent of Council to set the joint meeting for October I, 2003 <br /> <br />Ms. Moore-Sykes indicated she would contact the elementary school <br /> <br />4. Historic Information <br /> <br />Council Member Capra indicated that previous Councils have allowed her to photocopy <br />historic information in her capacity as City Historian and asked for permission to <br />continue to do so. <br /> <br />There was consent of Council to allow photocopying by the City Historian on items <br />related to City history. <br /> <br />5. Rubbish Hauler Contract & Ordinance <br /> <br />Council Member Capra indicated that a hauler had sent out a flier indicating residents <br />could save by switching. She then asked if the City could fine any haulers soliciting <br />business within the City. <br /> <br />~~~ <br /> <br />City Attorney Hoeft indicated that it is not possible to restrict a competitor. <br /> <br />Council Member Capra asked whether the City could be challenged by a resident who <br />would want to use another hauler for garbage pickup. City Attorney Hoeft indicated that <br />residents could try to do so but would be unsuccessful. <br /> <br />Ms. Moore-Sykes indicated that she received a got call from Chief Heckman and Anoka <br />County has sirens for sale and asked if the City is interested in having another siren. <br /> <br />Page 10 of 11 <br />
