<br />Centerville City Council <br />February 12, 2003 <br />Meeting Minutes <br /> <br />Council Member Broussard Vickers indicated she would like information on the <br />independent contractor conducting the compliance checks. Ms. Moore-Sykes indicated <br />that Staff had learned that the independent contractor conducts. compliance checks for <br />training purposes only and the City would need to continue to use the police department <br /> <br />Mayor Sweeney asked for information _ on the. best practices ordinance for liquor for <br />reVIew. <br /> <br />VI. PUBLIC HEAR{NG(S) <br /> <br />I <br />r <br />,j <br /> <br />1. Proposed Interim Ordinance #75. Moratorium on Slaughter/Butcher Shops Within <br />Anv Zoning District <br /> <br />Mayor Sweeney opened-the public hearing at 6:45 p.m. <br /> <br />Mayor Sweeney indicated, Council would not take testimony on whether or not there <br />- woUld be a slaughter shop in Centerville as this public hearing -is for discussion and <br />comment on the Ordinance only. <br /> <br />Ms. Moore-Sykes indicated there was no public comment concerning the Ordinance at <br />the Planning and Zoning meeting. She then indicated that Planning and Zoning had <br />recommended approval with changes t<:> restrict custom butchering, ritual, and sacrifice <br />butchering. <br /> <br />Mayor Sweeney indicated that there were a few people in town that process deer in their <br />garages that would need to be made aware that they cannot do that according to the <br />Ordinance. City Attorney Hoeft indicated that those individUals were probably not <br />allowed to do it previously for other reasons. He then suggested letting them know of the <br />Ordinance. <br /> <br />Motion bv Council Member Broussard Vickers. seconded by Council Member <br />Capra to close the public hearinl!. AIl in favor. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Mayor Sweeney closed the public hearing at 6:50 p.m. <br /> <br />Motion bv Council Member Broussard Vickers. seconded by Council Member Lee <br />to adopt Ordinance #75. an Interim Moratorium Ordinance on Slaul!hter/Butcher <br />Shops Within Anv Zoninl! District with the noted chane:es. AIl in favor. Motion <br />carried unanimouslv. <br /> <br />Council Member Broussard VickerS asked that this matter be placed on the agenda for the <br />first meeting in July. <br /> <br />Vll.
