Blanck <br /> <br />RE: <br /> <br />Disposal of Firearms - Suggested Ordinance Language <br /> <br />DATE: <br /> <br />May 12, 2003 <br /> <br />Joel: in accordance with the ,conclusions and recommendations section of my May 8, 2003 <br />memorandum to you on this issue, I suggest the following ordinance language regarding <br />unclaimed firearms. <br /> <br />Unclaimed Firearms: <br /> <br />1. .AJI firearms, including long gurt-s and hand guns of every <br />kind, lawfully coming into possession of the Centennial <br />Lakes Police Department in the course of its operations <br />on behalf of the city of , and rem~jning <br />unclaimed by the owner, shall be deemed "unclaimed <br />property" as that term is used in MUm. Stat. ~471.195 <br />and is provided for herein. <br /> <br />2. All unclaimed firearms shall be destroyed. No <br />unclaimed firearm shall be sold or otherwise used for <br />any purpose. Unclaimed :firearms shall be destroyed <br />pursuant to a schedule to be adopted by the Chief of <br />Police in his/her own discretion. <br />
