Cite of <br /> .� ►' 8, Centerville <br /> Avian and Bat Surveys <br /> Alison's experience includes assessing potential impacts <br /> from the installation of a large -scale wind energy <br /> conversion system to birds and bats. This involved <br /> performing data searches and developing and conducting <br /> surveys for both birds and bats across 40 square miles, as <br /> 41. well as evaluating potential impacts to wetlands and other <br /> natural resources. <br /> While at the USGS,Alison conducted waterfowl and <br /> GF _ shorebird surveys as part of a research project to <br /> investigate the impacts of climate change on waterfowl <br /> - 1 -- and shorebirds. This work included correctly identifying <br /> birds by species and delineating and classifying wetlands in <br /> agricultural and prairie landscapes. <br /> '� . As part of Alison's research experience, she designed and <br /> implemented pheasant surveys in southern Minnesota <br /> goo <br /> to test how common variables affect survey results. <br /> TM This involved training over 40 individuals to take part in <br /> the surveys, mapping land use, delineating wetlands, and <br /> creating a database of the results. <br /> River and Stream Assessments <br /> Alison served as the biological field crew leader for the EPA's National Rivers and Streams <br /> Assessment in South Dakota. As part of this effort, she conducted monitoring on 64 rivers and <br /> streams throughout the State of South Dakota which included collecting water and sediment <br /> samples, macroinvertebrate and fish samples, and coordinating with landowners. She also <br /> compiled the results of the surveys into a database usingArcMap GIS. <br /> Vegetation Management and Erosion Control <br /> While at Conservation Corps Minnesota,Alison conducted exotic species and noxious weed <br /> removal through manual and chemical means. She also conducted prescribed burns and worked <br /> with landowners to install erosion control BMP's to protect Lakeshore areas. <br /> m Key Personnel <br /> 40 <br />
