These questions were asked for two reasons: first, to validate this sample against <br /> the 2002 U.S. Census findings; and, second, to track any differences between subgroups and the <br /> rest of the population. There were no statistically significant differences between the findings of <br /> this survey and the census data. And, throughout the course of this study, subgroup differences <br /> will be discussed. <br /> Residential Longevity <br /> City residents were asked: <br /> Approximately how many years have you lived in <br /> Centerville? <br /> The typical adult resident has lived in Centerville for 9.9 years: <br /> LESS THAN TWO YEARS 3% <br /> TWO TO FIVE YEARS 19% <br /> SIX TO TEN YEARS .. 29% <br /> ELEVEN TO TWENTY YEARS 26% <br /> TWENTY -ONE TO THIRTY YEARS 13% <br /> OVER THIRTY YEARS 10% <br /> DON'T KNOW/REFUSED 0% <br /> Twenty-two percent have lived there for five years or less, while 23% resided there for over 20 <br /> years. <br /> "Two to five years" is posted at a higher rate by: <br /> • those thinking the city is going in the right direction <br /> • residents that have accessed the city's website <br /> "Six to ten years" is reported at a higher rate by: <br /> • households with children <br /> • women <br /> "Twenty-one to thirty years" is cited more often by: <br /> • those with knowledge about the Mayor and City Council <br /> "Over thirty years" is indicated most frequently by: <br /> 7 <br /> 40 <br />
